Living Gluten Free

Saturday, October 19, 2013

Wow!   It has been over a year now living Gluten Free.  When I started, I never thought I would be able to do it!  I looked at all the things that I loved and thought to myself, "There is NO Way".  Since being off gluten my health has improved dramatically!  My thyroid levels are finally stabilizing.  Here are a few things I would still like to try!

Gentle Whisper

Wednesday, October 16, 2013

This world is too loud....for me anyway. So many voices, noises, so many things fighting for my attention..... I have had this painting sitting on my desk just waiting to be painted for sometime....

I want to hear His voice....

Then he was told, “Go, stand on the mountain at attention before God. God will pass by.”

A hurricane wind ripped through the mountains and shattered the rocks before God, but God wasn’t to be found in the wind; after the wind an earthquake, but God wasn’t in the earthquake; and after the earthquake fire, but God wasn’t in the fire; and after the fire a gentle and quiet whisper.
 1 Kings 19:11-14 (MSG)

God isn't in the busy, the loud or the noise....He is the still small voice....the, "Gentle Whisper."

DIY - Yummy Popcorn Pumpkins

Monday, October 14, 2013

Perfect for the Holidays!

3/4 c light corn syrup
1/4 c butter
2 teaspoons cold water
2 5/8 c confectioners sugar
1 c marshmallows
5 quarts plain popped popcorn

In sauce pan over medium heat, combine
corn syrup, butter, cold water, sugar
and marshmallows.  Heat until the mixture
comes to a boil.  Carefully combine the hot mixture with
the popcorn coating each kernel.
Grease hands and shape popcorn into balls.
Wrap in cellophane or plastic wrap and store at
room temperature.

To make them extra cute
you can add orange food coloring as soon as it boils.
Use tootsie rolls for the stems.

For the leaves you can use gum paste or fondant.
These are made out of gum paste, food coloring and
cut with a leaf cutter from Hobby Lobby that is
specifically for fondant or gum paste.

My best friend and her sister in Texas made these and sent me the recipe;)
Don't they look yummy?  These would make great treats and gifts for the Holidays!!

DIY-Learning Layered Graphics

Sunday, October 13, 2013

This week I had fun playing around with Pic monkey and creating the layered graphic shown above.  If you haven't used Pic monkey yet, I definitely recommend it. You can use it for so many things!  Here are a few easy steps to make a graphic overlay using Pic monkey:

1.   You can find the site here:  http://www.picmonkey.com/

2. Create an account...once you have signed in click on Edit photo.

3. Once you have opened your photo, look to the left under Basic Edits and click on the Butterfly icon which will pull up all of the overlays.  You can choose "Your Own" to upload from your computer.  Or use Pic monkeys.  It even offers shapes like the mint banner above with my logo then layered on top of it.

4.  Once you have done this a box will appear and you will be able to pick your overlay colors and transparency of the image.

5.  Once you are satisfied with your photo click save.  You have now saved your Masterpiece!  Hope this helps!!

Happy Creating!

The Art of Gratitude

Thursday, October 10, 2013

I love this photo....I took it of my oldest baby girl while visiting the Nelson Atkins Art Museum in Kansas City.  We had so much fun that day...  I was so thankful to capture her taking in the beauty of this artwork.  I love that she loves art.  Out of all of the paintings in this huge museum, this was the only one that we could not find the information plaque on. There was no name of  a painter or information about the painting displayed.   I decided that I would call it "A Grateful Heart".   I am currently listening to the audiobook, "One simple act" (discovering the power of generosity) by Debbie Macomber.  One of the sections I listened to really sparked a fire in me to delve into the attitude of Gratitude....To learn the Art of Gratitude... (Sorry Grumbling & Complaining... NO more room for you here!)  I have decided to take a new journey and to walk a path of thanksgiving.  I mean to really be intentional on this journey....and I am excited to see where it takes me!

In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
